About Fernwellpets

Fernwellpets started at home, not in a boardroom.

I have an older dog and a young cat with enough energy to keep the whole house busy, and between the two of them I kept running into the same problem: finding pet products that genuinely made everyday life easier was not always as simple as it should be.

With my dog, I found myself looking for practical things that could make daily routines a little more comfortable and manageable. With my cat, the challenge was almost the opposite — keeping a curious, high-energy little animal busy, engaged and entertained. Living with two pets at very different stages of life made me look at pet products differently.

That is really where Fernwellpets began.

I did not want to build another pet store filled with random gadgets just because they looked good on a product page. I wanted to choose products with a clear reason for being there — things that can help with enrichment, feeding, hydration, comfort, grooming, travel and all the small everyday routines that come with caring for a pet.

Fernwellpets is a small independent pet store based in Cape Town, South Africa, and I want to keep that personal feel as we grow. When I look at a product for the store, I try to ask the same question I would ask if I were buying it for my own dog or cat: Would this actually make life a little better, easier or more enjoyable?

That is the idea behind Fernwellpets: thoughtful, practical products for real pets, real homes and the people who love them.

Thanks for being here and for supporting a small pet business that was inspired by two very real animals at home — one teaching me about comfort and care, and the other reminding me daily just how much energy can fit into one small cat.
